What We Leant from ARPM

We recently sent 14 members of our team to the ARPM (Australian Residential Property Management) conference. There was an incredible atmosphere of abundance and generosity. Speakers from within the industry pulled back the curtain and showed us the inner workings of their businesses. Speakers outside of the industry brought their knowledge and leadership ideas to give us a new perspective and direction.


Here are the key things that our team took away from the experience;

1. Everyone needs to win

Whether it’s debating with your three year old about having cupcakes for dinner or working out a deal with a client, it’s better if everyone walks away from the table feeling like they have been heard and gained something.


2. Unlearning is the new learning

Letting go of the past is the only way to have clarity in the present. Look at the world and your challenges with fresh eyes. Ask yourself what you would do if you had no preconceptions.


3. Choose a big dream

Although it might seem more sensible to aim for something smaller, it’s the bigger dreams that get us excited and out of bed to chase every day. If it doesn’t feel a bit risky and scary, the dream is probably not big enough.


4. The rule of three

Great service can be delivered every time with three simple rules.

i. Be there – commit to being totally present

ii. Care about the person you are dealing with

iii. Share the things that you are passionate about to create a genuine connection


5. Communicate during a crisis

The more frequent, quality information you provide during a crisis/challenge to your team, clients, family or friends, the better. Tell them everything you know immediately and be conscious to use the right tone depending on who you are speaking to.
